Rose Tyler
Played by Billie Piper
With the Doctor for season 1 and 2. Rose Tyler appeared briefly again in season 4. Rose is known in another form as
Bad Wolf,.
Throughout the first season, the Doctor and Rose see the words 'Bad Wolf'. At first they do not think anything of it, but later in the
season, we find out that Rose opened the TARDIS console, in hopes to save the Doctor from the
Daleks.
She absorbs the time energy from the TARDIS and
spreads the words 'Bad Wold' throughout time and space. The form of Bad Wolf only lasts
a little, until the Doctor absorbs the time energy from Rose, which is the cause of the regeneration
of the 9th Doctor into the 10th Doctor.
As of current times, Rose is stuck in a parallel universe, unable to return to her original universe because the holes in reality were
closed by the Doctor. She is stuck with her mother (from her original universe), her father (dead in her original universe, but found
alive in the universe they are stuck in), Ricky Smith (the universe-that-shes-stuck-in's version of her old boyfriend), and a human/Time
Lord
version of the 10th Doctor (the
Meta-Crisis of the 10th Doctor).
Jack Harkness
Played by Jack Barrowman
Jack Harkness was introduced in season 1, and continued to make several appearances until the end of season 4. Jack has the
tenancy to hit on the people he meets, disregarding species or sex. Jack was there at the end of Season 1, when Rose absorbed the time
energy from the TARDIS and became Bad Wolf,
. Jack gets shot and killed by the Daleks, but Bad Wolf brings him back to life. The next time
that the Doctor sees Jack, the 10th Doctor was with Martha (further down on this list). The Doctor tries to
avoid him (which does not work), because he does not want to
face Jack. Later, the Doctor sees Jack go into conditions that should kill him, but he does not die. The Doctor says that when Bad Wolf
brought him back, he may have been made immortal. Jack asks if he can die, and the Doctor says he does not know when or IF he can die.
There is another character that makes an appearances in the 9th and
10ths Doctors called The Face of Boe. Later in season 3 (after
The Doctor, Martha, and Jack were on an adventure), Jack mentions his time as a Time Agent. Jack says that he was made the poster boy of the Time Agency, called The Face of Boe. This was
one of the biggest revelations of Doctor Who. Jack is The Face of Boe, and only dies because he sacrifices himself to save the Doctor
and Martha.
Martha Jones
Played by Freema Agyeman
Martha was introduced the in the 2nd episode of season 3. She brought a level of intelligence to the TARDIS team, since she was a nurse practicing to become a doctor. She traveled with the Doctor throughout season 3, until she professed her love to the 10th Doctor. After this, with the Doctor not reciprocating feelings, she left the TARDIS. Later, she would go on to join UNIT as well as Torchwood, making appearances in the 4th season. Then, she would go on to marry Mickey Smith (Rose's old boyfriend), who fought aliens with her for Torchwood.
Donna Noble
Played by Catherine Tate
Donna was introduced in the 1st episode of season 3, but she declined the offer to go travel with the
10th Doctor. This was due to her
wanting to pursue her own life. Then, in the opening episode of season 4, the Doctor was investigating a weight loss pill company called
Adipose Industries.
In the mean time, after Donna declined the offer from the Doctor to travel time and space, Donna had begun investigating
weird events in hoped of running into the Doctor. Donna, at the same time as the Doctor, was also investigating the Adipose Industries.
They ended up running into each other, and Donna traveled with the Doctor for all of season 4. There were specials in between the
second to last episode and last episode of season 4, that Donna was not with the Doctor. This was because in the second to last episode
the Doctor was going to regenerate, but instead put his regeneration energy into his
spare hand. Then, when the Doctor was in trouble, Donna
Touched the hand, which made the hand regenerate into the
Meta-Crisis of the 10th Doctor. When this happened, Donna also absorbed Time Lord DNA, which was awakened
once she got electrocuted.
This made it so that she could save everyone, including the Doctor, but her brain was put into overload because a human-Time Lord
meta-crisis could not exist because it would burn the human's mind. So, in order to save Donna, the Doctor erased her mind of everything
Time Lord, including himself. This was only a fix that was possible if she were never to remember the Doctor, or her travelings with him.
River Song
Played by Alex Kingston
River was first introduced in a season 4 two-part story, starting with
Silence in the Library, staring the
10th Doctor. She made her second appearance in season 5 with the 11th Doctor,
and her most recent appearance in the 2016 Christmas special, along side the 12th Doctor.
River is also a time traveler, and because of this the Doctor is meeting her in the wrong order. In other words, the first time the Doctor
meets her, is the last time she sees the Doctor. River is revealed to be the Doctors wife, as well as Amy's and
Rory's child. She has been known to
regenerate twice so far.
This is due to the fact that she was conceived while the TARDIS was flying through the
time vortex. This caused her to become part
Time Lord, since the Time Lords became how they were through thousands of years of exposure to the time vortex.
Being part time lord made River an interest to Madame Kovarian.
She took her as a baby, and raised her as a weapon to kill the Doctor. Her given name, by Amy Pond, was Melody Pond.
The first time that the Doctor meets River, is the day that she dies. The Doctor, in the future, gave River a
sonic screwdriver. This sonic screwdriver had a system that saved a person's consciousness, which allowed the Doctor to upload
River to the largest library in the universe.
Amy Pond
Played by Karen Gillan
Amelia Jessica "Amy" Pond, was introduced in the first episode of the 5th season. She traveled with the
11th Doctor from season 5 to half way through season 7.
The Doctor first met the Doctor when she was 5 years old, but did not remember him due to the Doctor was traveling with Amy back through
her own time line. Amy first properly met the Doctor when she was 7, when the TARDIS crashed into her yard.
The Doctor offered for her to travel, telling her to pack a bag while he takes a quick trip to the moon to stabilize the TARDIS. The
Doctor arrives, thinking it has been 12 hours. Later, the Doctor finds out it has been 12 years. This is why Amy is often referred to as
"The Girl Who Waited".
Amy left with the Doctor the night before her wedding day. Later, she would end up marrying
Rory Williams.
After an encounter with the Weeping Angels,
Rory got zapped back in time. Amy eventually let the Weeping
Angel touch her in the hopes she'd get sent back to where Rory was. This was confirmed by Rory's grave stone having an addition for
Amy's name.
Clara Olwald
Played by Jenna Coleman
In the first episode of season 7,
Asylum of the Daleks, the 11th Doctor was communicating with someone that crashed onto the asylum planet,
named Oswin Olwald. The Doctor asked what she was eating for all the time she was crashed, and she said souffles. The Doctor starts to ask
where she got the eggs, but stopped and focused on what the true problem why he was there. Later, the Doctor goes to find Oswin and comes
face to face with a Dalek. Oswin's voice seemed to be coming from the Dalek. The Doctor defeatedly said
"where do you get the eggs?"... He believed that the Dalek went crazy and thought it was human. The Dalek still helped the Doctor and said
"run you clever boy, and remember" as the Doctor was running.
Then in the Christmas special between the first and second part of season 7, the Doctor was in Victorian London. He was hiding away in
the TARDIS, devastated after Amy got taken by the Weeping Angel. A
governess, named Clara Oswin Oswald, went to the Doctors friends (Vastra,
Strax, and
Jenny), and said she needed help. Vastra said she must pass a
test. The test was to ask for help, she must do it in one word. After thinking, Clara said "pond". She said "pond" because there was a
ice woman that came to life out of a pond at the house that she took care of kids at. But the Doctor took it as in Amy Pond. During the
Doctor helping Clara, she ended up mortally wounded. Her dying words were "run you clever boy, and remember".
At this moment the Doctor connected the two, just now because when he met her the first time he could not see her face because she was
a Dalek. He tracked her down to what was present time at the time of the episode air date, 2013. Helped her with a problem and traveled
with her in the TARDIS from second part of season 7 until the end of season 9. After the end of season 7, Clara witnessed the Doctor
regenerate into the 12th Doctor.
This made Clara the 2nd companion of the revived series to travel with the Doctor through more than one regeneration.
Bill Potts
Played by Pearl Mackie
Bill was a student at St. Luke's University, at the same time that the 12th Doctor was a professor there. She got curious of the professor and eventually found out about who he truly was. Then, the Bill traveled with the Doctor for the entire 10th season. Bill, near the end, got turned into a Cyberman. Bill gave her life to save the Doctor. Her memories were saved by The Testimony, so that she could live on.
