War Doctor

war doctor

Between the old Doctor Who and the 2005 Revival, played by John Hurt. Known as "the one who broke the promise". This is because he was the one who used the The Moment to wipe out the Daleks and Time Lords alike. Later it was revealed that he did not really use it (The Day of the Doctor), but he did not retain these memories because it was when the 11th Doctor was crossing his own time line with the 10th Doctor and the War Doctor.

The War Doctor regenerated into the 9th Doctor after the 10th and 11th Doctors helped him not use the moment. Instead, all 13 Doctors at the time (11 + reveal of 12th Doctor + War Doctor) used thier TARDISes to put Gallifrey into a pocket universe. The Daleks then destroyed themselves since their was no planet in between their ships to catch their lasers. But since the War Doctor did not retain the memories of this, the Doctor went through his life thinking that he killed his own people, until the 11th Doctor lived the events of The Day of the Doctor.

Life: seasons 8 through 10. Regenerated after getting electrocuted by a Cyberman. He delayed the regeneration process. Then, he got shot repeatedly by another Cyberman, and got caught in a huge explosion. The Doctor then refused to regenerate, which means a death for a Time Lord. He accepted regeneration after meeting the 1st Doctor in the 2017 Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time.

13th Doctor

13th doctor

Doctor since the regeneration in the 2017 Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time, and is appearing in Series 11 in late 2018, played by Jodie Whittaker.

This marks a historical moment for Doctor Who because she is the first female Doctor! There has been controversy surrounding this, but real fans are fine with it. It has been said before in the show that Time Lords can change sex during the regeneration process. In fact, one of the Doctor's greatest enemies/friends, the Master, has changed to a girl.
